One Killed, Three Hurt in Iatan Accident
One worker was killed and three others were hurt when a line ruptured at the Iatan Power Plant in northern Platte County Wednesday.
The plant, which had been shut down since Monday due to the flood scare, was in the process of being put back online when a hot steam pipe ruptured just before noon. Two workers remain in serious condition, one worker escaped with minor injuries. The name of the deceased was not known as of press time.
A KCP&L spokesman said that the plant will remain offline while an investigation into the accident is conducted. The outage is not expected to cause problems with the area’s power supply.
