No Deal on Campaign Signs
Though she’s given no official comment, District 1 Republican Commission candidate Kathy Dusenbery has spoken through her actions: She’s using campaign yard signs this election.
Dusenbery was challenged by Democratic Commission candidate Bill Quitmeier in a July letter to join him on a boycott of the election year staple.
“Signs, especially yard signs have a tendency to pit neighbor against neighbor,” Quitmeier said. “They create unwarranted friction in our neighbor-hoods instead of unifying us all in effort to improve our county. These signs are an eyesore and an environmental waste of our valuable resources.”
Quitmeier had complained to area media that Dusenbery had not agreed to his idea, pointing out that Dusenbery had agreed to a similar arrangement in her last Parkville mayoral election, which she won handily over former Parkville Alderman Charlie Poole. Quitmeier said Dusenbery should do the same this year by “walking the walk.”
“Let’s start by removing divisive signs that are unsightly and environmentally harmful,” Quitmeier said.
Dusenbery’s signs have been spotted in Riss Lake, Hwy FF, The Bluffs and The National in Parkville in recent weeks.
