Candidates file in Platte County

As they all declared nearly a year ago, Tom Pryor, incumbent District 1 Commissioner, current Parkville Mayor Kathy Dusenbery and former Parkville Mayor Bill Quitmeier all filed for the upcoming election. Pryor will face off against Dusenbery in the Republican primary on August 5; Quitmeier is running unopposed on the Democrat side.

As the Luminary went to press, only Lisa Pope, the current County Assessor, had opposition. Pope, a Republican, will face a challenge from Democrat Marcena Fulton. Fulton currently works in the County Clerk’s office.

Also filing:

County Commission, District 2: Jim Plunkett, Republican

Sheriff: Richard Anderson, Republican

County Treasurer: Bonnie Brown, Democrat

Public Administrator: Terry Edwards, Democrat

Would-be candidates have until March 25 to file. The general election will be held in November.
