Unerkoffler Wins Parkville Civic Leadership Award

Ellen Underkoffler was awarded with Parkville’s Civic Leadership Award at last Thursday’s Missouri Municipal League’s annual award dinner.

Chosen by the Parkville Board of Aldermen, Underkoffler was commended for her role in the following civic activities: Community Land & Recreation Board; Parkville Original Plat Neighborhood Association; Banneker School Foundation and Historic Site, Inc.; Parkville TIF Commission; Parkville TIF ad hoc policy committee; Parkville Municipal Officials Ethics Commission; and the Ad hoc Committee on environmental Issues in Parkville.

The award was presented by Parkville Mayor Gerry Richardson, who said he was most familiar with Underkoffler’s efforts on the Parkville TIF policy committee.

“Ellen volunteered several days of her time to perform a rigorous and detailed review of the previous policy and made numerous insightful recommendations for improvements,” Richardson said.

Underkoffler is perhaps best known as co-owner of The Porch Swing Inn with Rhonda Weimer.

More than twelve people from Parkville were in attendance at the event, which was held in nearby Gladstone. Each member city in a specific geographic section of the MML’s membership chooses its person to be honored. Recent winners of the award have been Deborah Butcher and Joe Miller.
