RITTMAN RESIGNS FROM BOARD OF ALDERMEN
In a letter sent to Mayor Kathy Dusenbery and city staff Saturday morning, Ward 2 Alderman Dave Rittman resigned his position on the city’s Board of Aldermen.
Rittman, a resident of Riss Lake, has recently begun working in St. Croix where he works as a chief operating officer for an automotive dealership firm.
The letter reads as follows:
“It is with deep regret that I feel it best for my constituents to tender my resignation from the Board of Alderman effective this date. While maintaining our residence here in Parkville, recently my full time work responsibilities were shifted to St Croix in the Virgin Islands. While I am commutating back and forth back to Parkville on an ongoing basis, it is apparent I will not be able to continue committing the extensive hours of time needed to adequately represent my constituents to the levels I have in the past.
“With the ongoing growth of the City, and all the important issues that the Board is working with, I believe it is in the best interests that the citizens who have re-elected me for all these years now be represented by someone not so far away most of the time, and who can make the many meeting that occur between the normally scheduled Board sessions.
“Over the years I sincerely have appreciated the opportunity to serve the City and the Ward, and at some point upon my return to Parkville would look forward to the possibility of doing so again. Thank you all for everything, and I look forward to helping with the transition period with a new replacement alderperson designated per established procedures.”
Procedure now calls for the mayor to nominate a replacement to the board, which must be approved by the city’s Board of Aldermen.
