RICHARDSON WINS PARKVILLE MAYOR'S RACE
Gerry Richardson captured 65 percent of the vote to take Parkville’s mayoral election 630-332 over downtown businessman Tom Hutsler. It is Richardson’s second turn in the mayor’s chair — Richardson served as interim mayor in 2004. The election marks Hutlser’s third consecutive loss at the Parkville ballot box.
In Parkville’s other contested race, incumbent Ward 3 alderman Jeff Bay fought off former alderman Brian Atkinson 182-78.
In area elections, Platte City’s former mayor Frank Offut defeated two-term incumbent Dave Brooks to become that city’s mayor. Kathy Rose won re-election in Riverside while Gerald Bos ousted incumbent Alan York in Weatherby Lake.
