Parkville Named in 50 Best American Cities List

Sustaining its run of rosy magazine reviews, Parkville was listed as one of the “50 Best Places to Live” in the March issue of Men’s Journal.

Featured among the “Best Commuter Towns” section of the article, Parkville’s downtown and civic leadership was praised by a contributor.

“Parkville’s Main Street struck me as an unusual mix of funky and quaint, and at it’s base sat English Landing, a gorgeous park abutting the Missouri River,” the article read. “The town’s civic leaders…thumbed their noses at a riverboat casino, deciding to invigorate the community by pulling in the kinds of restaurants and stores that have no business being in a town this small.”

Parkville’s National Golf Club was recently named one of the country’s top golf communities in a recent issue of Travel & Leisure magazine. The city was also prominently featured in a Southern Living magazine feature last year.

“ I think it shows that we have – had – one of the best
kept secrets in the area as far as lifestyles.”

“We’re hardly a stones throw away from Kansas City, but we’re two different worlds here,” Dusenbery said, noting the mere 11-minute commute to the downtown metropolitan area’s core.
