Park Hill Goes into Lockdown

At about 9:05 a.m., someone robbed the QuickTrip on Barry Road. Right away, Renner Elementary, Congress Middle School, Park Hill High School and the district office, which includes the preschool programs, all went into lockdown. This means that all exterior doors, including the front doors, were locked so that nobody could enter the buildings from the outside.

“Once our school resource officers from the Platte County Sheriff’s Department determined that the suspect had left the area, our front doors were unlocked at about 9:50 a.m.,” Park Hill spokesperson Nicole Kirby said.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, the suspect was described as a white male, about 6’1”, in his 30s, scruffy-looking with a goatee, wearing a brown Carharts jacket. He was carrying some kind of handgun, and he was last seen getting into a dark-colored Volvo.
